(You can read my posts here, starting at Year One, for this challenge, or hop to the other participants listed at the right.)

Well, it's been a blast - and a lot of work! I would never have thought I could write 25 posts in one month before doing this. I've learned a lot - about blogging, about myself, and about a host of other wonderful bloggers who joined me in this challenge. I have loved getting to know each one of you, and feel proud to call you my friends. And I'm delighted to hear that everyone else seems to think it was both fun and worthwhile, too.

What a great variety of posts we've had. Such creative ways of interpreting this challenge - fiction, poetry, memoir, gardening, photography & reflection - you name it, it's come out - and the challenge has been richer for it.

For some great ideas for next year's October Memoir & Backstory Blog Challenge, check out this post by Joy Weese Moll. I’m thinking of doing it 3 days a week instead of daily, next year ( Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays?) to give people more time to research and write their posts, more time for hoppers to read the post before the next one goes up, and allow those who are taking more than one challenge on in a month, days to do the others. That would mean about 10 posts in the challenge instead of 25. What do you think?

Best of luck to all of you, especially those who are going on to NaNoWriMo. I have been convinced to try it for the first time. I don't expect to complete it - I have too many things already on the go this November - but I will learn about it best by doing, and I'm sure I'll accomplish more than if I didn't participate in it. So look me up - my handle there is: JAMcL

My fondest hope is that all of you will come back next year for the October challenge, full of great news about your year and trailing friends who want to join the fun!

I would like to hear any comments or suggestions you have about this challenge to help me make next year's bigger and better.

Love ya all!  - Jane Ann

It was a lot of fun :) Not sure I could do it again anytime soon LOL I didn't do NaNoWriMo this year, instead joined a 90 day workshop. I have one MS in the rejection trenches, but have a goal of another 90k novel, finished, edited, revised and in the query trenches by January. *deep breath* What have I done this time???

Good luck with your workshop and your 90k novel! I joined NaNo as a "rebel' b/c I didn't get my historical novel edited, so have to finish that before starting the next one. It's not going quickly, though. I did get querys out on my memoir, though - so am in "wait & see" mode.

Thought of you last week, when something flicked some of my triggers.

All the best to you, T.J.

I loved the Challenge, Jane Ann! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish all 25 blogs in October due to some family issues (unexpected visits, my fil's 90's birthday party in Chicago, and our vacation to Cozumel) but I intend to keep what I did for the challenge and add to it - loved the theme.
The only difficulty I had with the challenge was that there were so many participants (how can you complain about THAT, lol!) that I couldn't get to everyone's blogs and do my own. :) I like your idea to do it three days a week next time and make it 10 blogs instead of 25.
Will you use the same theme or something else altogether?
What a great idea this was and I sure enjoyed meeting so many wonderful authors and getting to read about them and/or their characters :D

Glad you enjoyed it, Joy and Susan.
Joy - I added a link to your comments in this post. Great ideas.
Susan - I'm pleased you'll be coming back next year! I enjoyed your posts this time, but I'm not sure you got my comments - they didn't always appear, though I commented on every one you posted.
It will still be Memoir and Backstory, but I'll try to suggest something different around those concepts to make it interesting. Of course, people can always take the basic idea and run with it - I'm okay with any creative interpretation.
I agree it was hard reading everyone's post, every day, and I was often reluctant to add a new post before many people had read mine - That's why I'm spreading them out. Glad you like that idea.
Cheers!
