Using Sound and Video to Market Your Book/e-Books

September 26: the twenty-sixth day of InSeMaMo
Today's challenge is to look into creating videos and podcasts to promote your book/e-books.

I will admit up front that this is a challenge I have yet to take myself. New technology isn't my strong suit. But UTube
, book trailers and podcasts are too important to ignore. Since I can't advise you on using them myself, I will give you some good links to go to. (Those of you who have used them, please share your experiences in the comments section!)

Three links for creating videos:

And an inexpensive model: Utube/videos/whiteboards

Podcasts work best for authors of non-fiction - create a series of podcasts discussing a few of the points in your book - but fiction authors can use podcasts to read chapters of their stories or short stories based on the characters in your novel.

And finally, here are some tips on maximizing your use of Utube. They apply best to businesses or non-fiction writers, but there's good information here for fiction authors using Utube, also.

YouTube and podcasts are not something I've ventured into yet - there are some good tips on www.thecreativepenn.com about using these. I have been a guest on one podcast, but it hasn't gone out yet. A good way to get an idea of what to do is being a guest on one, though.

I haven't tried a podcast as yet, however the self publishing company that helped me with my book did help make this video to post on Youtube. While it has had a reasonable amount of views, I can't say it has brought in any sales, even though I advertise it wherever I can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh6XG4WNUTg

Utube is not a different site than Youtube right? Am I missing a new site? I have my promo videos on youtube, I made them using a site that no longer exists, onetruemedia, but I'm planning on using windows movie maker for the next one. This is my video for my first book, Tristan Wolf.

YouTube/Utube. Sorry for the short form. I enjoyed seeing your video. Did you do the drawings? I wish I could draw!

Sorry, I didn't know if it was new site. Nowadays, you never know. I didn't do the drawings, I hired an artist, who is also a friend of mine to do the drawings for the first and second Tristan Wolf. I love her style.
